He graduated from the Medical-prophylactic Faculty of Azerbaijan Medical University named after N.Narimanov in 1972.

He worked as a doctor in the Soviet Army from 1972 to 1974.

Between 1975 and 1977, he did a clinical residency on Radiation therapy and Radiology at the Medical Radiological Institute of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR in Obninsk.

In 1981, he was awarded the degree of PhD.

Since 1982, he has worked as a researcher at the Department of Radiotherapy of the Institute of Oncology, Radiology of Azerbaijan Republic (now  National  Center of Oncology).

He received a postgraduate doctoral education in Clinical oncardiology at the Scientific Center of Oncology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR in Moscow from 1987 to 1989.

In 1990, according to the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ministers Council of USSR he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine.

He is an author of more than 200 scientific articles, several books and medical textbooks. Under his guidance 10 doctors defended PhD theses.

Now, he is Honored Worker of Science, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Radiotherapy of the National Center of Oncology.

He is a member of the International Academy of Environmental Energy, member of the Society of Physicians-oncologists-radiologists of America and Russia.
