He graduated from the Medical-prophylactic Faculty of Azerbaijan Medical University in 1978.

He worked as a doctor at the Shamkir Regional Clinic from 1978 to 1984.

Between 1984 and 1987, he did a clinical residency at the Institute of Radiology in Obninsk in the  Russian Federation. In 1987, he defended a Ph.D. dissertation 

He worked at the Laboratory of Radionuclide Diagnostics of the National Center of Oncology from 1987 to 2001.

Since 2001, he has worked as a radiation oncologist at the Department of Radiotherapy of the National Center of Oncology.

The main direction of the medical and scientific activity is radiation therapy of tumors.
