Dr. Azer is a surgeon who is highly specialized in Abdominal Oncology.

He studied at the Medical-prophylactic Faculty of Azerbaijan Medical University from 1990 to 1996. 

Between the years of 1996-1997, he did an internship at the National Center of Oncology. 

In 1997, he started working as a senior laboratory assistant at the Department of Abdominal Oncology of the National Center of Oncology.

In 1999, he started working as a junior researcher at the Department of Abdominal Oncology of the  National Center of Oncology.

He defended a thesis on the topic “Influence of surgical trauma on the functional state of the liver in patients with gastric cancer and colon” in 2002.

In 2004, he started working as a researcher at the Department of Abdominal Oncology of the  National Center of Oncology. 

He did a doctoral training at the Russian Oncology Scientific Center named after N.N.Blokhin in Moscow from 2004 to 2005.

In 2007, he started working as a senior researcher at the  Department of Abdominal Oncology of the National Center of Oncology.

He defended a Doctoral dissertation on the topic «Extended and extended-combined operations in treatment of gastric cancer» in 2013 and became a Doctor of Science in Medicine.

Since 2018, he has been Head of the Department of Abdominal Oncology of the National Center of Oncology.

More than 110 scientific papers have been published. Among them, 27 articles have been published in foreign journals, 59 scientific works – in materials of international congresses. He has made numerous reports at the scientific conferences in our and other countries.  He is a co-author of 3 methodic recommendations and 1 rationalization proposal. He is an author of an international invention.

Dr. Azer is a member of the Scientific Council of the Center and a member of Expert Council of Dissertation, 32.24.01 –  “oncology” of the National Center of Oncology.

In 2012, he was awarded the degree of Associate Professor. In addition to his scientific activity, he successfully performs practical treatment of patients. He performs surgeries for malignant and benign tumors of the stomach, large intestineç rectum, liver, pancreas and peritoneal area.

He has attended advanced training courses in the Russian Federation, the Czech Republic and the United States. He has attended scientific meetings in a number of European, Asian and post-Soviet countries and made numerous speeches and presentations.
