Rasim Zeynalov is a highly qualified specialist in the field of clinical oncology. 

He studied at the Faculty of General Medicine of Azerbaijan Medical University from 1967 to 1973.

Between 1973 and 1974, he did an internship in oncology at the Department of Oncology of the Oncologic Clinic of Azerbaijan Medical University.

He did a clinical residency in oncology at the Department of Oncology of Azerbaijan Medical University from 1977 to 1979.

Between the years of 1979 and 1982, he received a postgraduate education in oncology in the All-Union Oncological Center of the USSR AMS (currently ROSC, RAMS Moscow).

In 1983, he defended the Ph.D. thesis  on the topic “Soft Tissue Liposarcomas - Clinic, Diagnosis and Treatment”.

Between November 1984 and June 1988, he worked as a Scientific Secretary at the National Center of Oncology.

He worked as a senior researcher at the Department of General Oncology of the National Center of Oncology from June 1988 to March 1989.

He has been Head of the Department of Chemotherapy I of the National Center of Oncology since 1989.

Over 160 scientific papers have been published. Among them there have been 4 monographs and 6 methodical recomendations.

Under the mentorship of R.S. Zeynalov a number of scientific studies have been successfully carried out. The purpose of these studies has been to increase the effectiveness of drug treatment of disseminated lung, breast, stomach, colorectal cancer and the treatment and prevention of complications of chemotherapy. Researches on the study and implementation of new antitumor drugs in practical health care and on improving the organization of drug treatment of malignant tumors are also being conducted at the Department of Chemotherapy.
