Department of Oncourology
Department of oncourology is situated on the third floor of surgical building of National Center of Oncology (NCO) and has the capacity for 30 beds. The most important direction of the department is the application of modern methods of diagnostic and treatment of malignancies of urinary tract system. More attention is paid to the implementation of modern surgical techniques in the treatment of malignancies of genitourinary system. The staff of the department is well-trained and highly qualified in the field of management of oncourological diseases. Dr. Fuad Guliyev is the head of the department since 2009.
The oncourology department of NCO was the first in the Republic which introduced technique of radical cystectomy with continent reservoir formation of different types. Department is provided with modern equipment which allows carrying out all kinds of endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures on the urine bladder, prostate and upper urinary tracts. For early diagnosis of the bladder cancer photodynamic cystoscopy is commonly used. The department has high surgical activity with more 500 operations performed per year. One of the most important missions of the department is the organization of postgraduate and training courses for young doctors and residents from different hospital over the country.
