On July 5, leading experts from foreign countries visiting Baku for the 5th Azerbaijan Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Symposium visited the National Center of Oncology.

The guests were introduced to the material and technical facilities, as well as the operational activities of departments such as Nuclear Medicine and Radionuclide Therapy, Radiation Therapy, and others.

Foreign guests met with Academic Jamil Aliyev, General Director of the National Center of Oncology.

At the meeting, Academic Jamil Aliyev pointed out that the National Center of Oncology is a specialized scientific-research institution with a clinical base of 1500 beds that studies the etiopathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of malignant tumors not only in Azerbaijan, but in the entire South Caucasus region: “To enhance the quality of medical care provided at the center, all treatments are consolidated in one location. This means patients at the Center can receive chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and undergo surgery. Early diagnosis is pivotal for successful treatment of malignant diseases, and achieving better outcomes is significantly influenced by detecting diseases at their earliest stages. To facilitate early detection, we have established two Mobile Diagnostic Complexes equipped with a mammograph, an x-ray machine, and an ultrasound machine. These complexes are dedicated to screening for both pre-tumor and tumor diseases, aiming to identify conditions early and initiate timely intervention.”

It has been noted that citizens residing in remote regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan receive free medical examinations. If any pathology is detected during these examinations, patients are referred to hospitals specializing in relevant medical profiles for further evaluation and treatment.

Academic noted that to enhance the medical assistance provided to oncology patients, the National Center of Oncology has established close relationships with various international organizations and esteemed medical institutions. Currently, collaborative scientific work is ongoing with oncologists from other countries.

The guests expressed their satisfaction with the conditions at the Center, highly appreciating the quality of medical care provided to oncology patients. They conveyed their best wishes for the continued success of the medical institution's operations.

During the meeting, discussions focused on innovations in the diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases in the modern era. The participants emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the global fight against cancer. Preliminary talks were also conducted regarding the development of partnerships with various foreign organizations.

Afterward, the guests visited the museum of the National Center of Oncology and shared their heartfelt thoughts in the memory book.
