CONFERENCE OF WORLD THYROID DAY

On May 27 2016 International Thyroid Day Conference was held with the participation of endocrinologists, therapists, cardiologists, neurologists, surgeons, oncologists, ophthalmologists, and other medical personnel in National Center of Oncology.

Conference was opened with the speech of chief oncologist of Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan Republic, chief doctor of National Center of Oncology Azad Karimli. He spoke about successful health reforms in the country, modernizing health care systems and providing high-tech medical equipment.

First Deputy General Director of National Center of Oncology , professor Aziz Aliyev stressed the importance of the conference in the field of the  treatment of thyroid diseases, identifying appropriate diagnoses, discussing the latest developments in this area. His  presentation on “Thyroid cancer” was listened with great interest. He spoke  about world experience in the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid diseases, gave information on  operations on thyroid gland and post-operative treatment implemented in National Center of Oncology .

He made a presentation on "Thyroid pathology and women's reproductive system". It was noted that the disease is more widespread among women than men. And also, it is the most common diseases in the world after diabetes.

Noted that iodine deficiency is the most common type of thyroid gland diseases. Rauf Jabbarov emphasized that the law on “the prevention of iodine deficiency diseases" adopted by the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan came into force in 2003. As a result of the measures taken by the Ministry of Health of iodine deficiency has decreased a few times. Endocrinology Center conducts preventive examinations in the regions, holds awareness events, controls component of the salts in the stores.
