Department of Reanimatology and Intensive Care

The Intensive Care Department of the National Center of Oncology is designed for 20 beds, including one chamber for particularly severe category of patients requiring isolation.

The department is equipped with modern facilities, including:

  • respiratory support equipment capable of invasive and non-invasive
    therapy for the patients ranged from pediatric to adult. The using of these type of devices minimize the damaging effect on the lungs during prolong respiratory support;
  • patient monitoring equipment. Acute care physiologic monitoring systems configured to continuously measure and display a number of patient’s parameters. These include the electrical activity of the heart via an ECG, respiration rate, blood pressure (NIBP, IBP), body temperature, cardiac output, and pulse oximetry. All monitors are networked to a central station;
  • infusion pumps employ automatic, programmable pumping mechanisms to deliver continuous anesthesia, drugs, and blood infusions to the patient;
  • centralized gas supply system - the system of supply and exhaust ventilation with air filtration through a bacterial filter.

The intensive care unit is particularly proud of widespread using  of HAMILTON
MEDICAL ventilators, promoting the concept of Intelligent Ventilation,
and especially the newest member of the HAMILTON MEDICAL ventilator line - HAMILTON S1 (Intellivent Ventilation). The use of such advanced technology ventilation helps the clinician to easily and quickly assess the most important parameters, to adapt the respiratory support in all stages of treatment and make informed clinical decisions. These ultimately improve the survival rate.

The use of diagnostic equipment is also required in the ICU. The laboratory, radiological (mobile x-ray units) and endoscopic services operating 24/7 provide an opportunity to examine the patient and to make an accurate diagnosis in a very short time.

The intensive care department is equipped with modern facilities for the care of seriously ill patients. The medical stuff of ICU has excellent training in maintenance of critically ill patients and to respond to life-threatening situations.

Multidisciplinary approach of comprehensive care providing conjointly by intensivists, surgeons and other specialists provides assistance in the treatment of all types of patients including surgical with concomitant diseases and patients receiving chemo- and  radiotherapy.
