Clinical-Biochemical laboratory
National Center of Oncology of the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan Republic is the leading oncology services, specialized scientific research institution. Since the establishment of the center in the field of clinical oncology, as well as many departments as the primary basis for conducting laboratory tests of physical and chemical experimental laboratory of the department, and later became a laboratory for chemical and finally, biochemical.
This clinic –diagnostic laboratory was formed in 1949 and from 1971 was headed by I.T.Abbasov . However, in 1971, he was elected the chief of the gastroenterology department, thus the biochemical and pathophysiological laboratory were connected and became the new biochemistry laboratory ,and from the 1971 till 1977 the laboratory was headed by prof. S.B Tagizade (until his death).
Later, from 1997 till 2003 the laboratory was headed by N.R.Oruclu. From 2003 till 2013 MD A.I Yusifov headed laboratory. During all these years, the laboratory improved to the modern aspects and reached to high level. All the works of the laboratory has computerized union system. Clinical , biochemical, immunological, serological and bacteriological analyzes of blood, urine and other bio objects were carried out by a wide spectrum in department. Biochemical analysis is made by fully automated “Flexor E” apparatus, immunological analysis is made by the modern “Plate Screen” apparatus.
Express laboratory was established in 2007. Scientific work of the laboratory mainly depends on fundamental search in biochemistry of tumor growth. The laboratory was involved in the the study of the metabolism of ascorbic acid, the functional state of adrenal cortex, as well as interaction of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism in tumors and the body.During the period of its work of the laboratory were defended 3 doctoral, 10 candidates dissertations, more than 300 scientific articles were published by staff.
From 2009 the biochemical tests in the laboratory have been carried out by “Dimension” apparatus Siemens firm, immunological tests by “ Advia Centaur CP” and “Axsym” apparatus Abbott firm. At the present time hematological tests are carried out in fully automated Abbott “Cell Dyn 3700” and Orphee”Mythic” apparatus, biochemical in fully automated Abbott “Architect c 4000” and “Biolis 50i” apparatus, immunochemical tests in full automated Abbott “Architect i1000” and Roche”Cobas e 601” apparatus, protein electrophoresis – in “Helena”, koagulometric – in Sysmex “CA- 500”,urinalysis –in Roche “Combilyzer”, blood group and Rezus Factor by centrifuge gel.
In addition, the laboratory provides molecular biological studies of infectious agents by PCR in real time in a fully automated apparatus Abbott “m2000sp”, “m2000rt” and a device made by DNA technology “DT-96″ using the manual method of isolating nucleic acids. Hematologic tests in express laboratory are conducted in a fully automated Abbott “Cell Dyn Emerald” and Sysmex “KX-21N” apparatus, biochemical tests – in a fully automated “Biolis 15 neo” and “AE-600″, immunochemical – “mini Vidas”, koagulometric tests – Sysmex “CA-50″ apparatus. At the present time the laboratory is headed by N.H.Alieva.
