International Gynaecologic Oncology Conference was held in Baku

International Gynaecologic Oncology Conference was held at the National Center of Oncology the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on November 26.

The conference was attended by the specialists in gynaecologic oncology diseases from Turkey, Russia and Poland, as well as physicians and specialists from various medical institutions of our Republic.

The international conference was opened by the Director General of the National Center of Oncology, Akademik Jamil Aliyev. He informed the participants about the work done at the National Center of Oncology and its Oncogynecology Department, achievements in various scientific research and practical activities and wished success to the conference. Akademik Jamil Aliyev gave certificates to Professor Ates Karateke, President of Turkish Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Head of Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department of Istanbul Kültür University; Professor Svetlana Rogovskaya, Vice President of the Association of Genital Neoplasia of Russian Federation; Pawel Knapp, Representative of the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO), Head of the Department of Gynaecology and Gynaecologic Oncology of the Medical University of Bialystok of Poland; Melahat Atasever, Associate Professor of the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department of Giresun University of Turkey for their effective activities in the development of international cooperation and partnership in the field of oncology.

At the opening ceremony of the conference supported by the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology, Denis Querleu, President of ESGO, Professor of the Cancer Center of Bergonie Institute of Bordeaux, France made a video address to the participants and wished them effective work.

Professor Svetlana Rogovskaya, Vice President of the Association of Genital Neoplasia of Russian Federation, emphasized that the National Center of Oncology is the leading institution coordinating scientific, methodical and preventive work for the provision of specialized oncological services not only for the population of Azerbaijan, but also for the people of the regional countries. Svetlana Rogovskaya presented a diploma of gratitude to Akademik Jamil Aliyev on behalf of the international organization for the many years of effective work of the National Center of Oncology in Azerbaijan and the high scientific and practical achievements in the field of oncology accepted worldwide.

In their speeches, Jamila Gurbanova, Director of the Scientific Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Sevinj Mammadova, Director of the Republican Perinatal Center, noted that early detection and treatment of all oncological diseases, including cervical cancer are one of the main directions of modern medicine. It was noted that cancer is one of the world's biggest troubles and annually 7 million people die from the disease. It was noted that cancer has always been actual, and today the actuality has not diminished. It is a disease that can befall anyone, regardless of age and nationality.

The actress of the Republic, who has been suffering from cancer for a long time, Tunzala Aliyeva, thanked Akademik Jamil Aliyev, Director General of the National Center of Oncology and the doctors for the successful operation.

In the conference, Professor Ates Karateke, President of Turkish Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Head of Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department of Istanbul Kültür University “Treatment tactics of the early stage of cervical cancer”; Professor Svetlana Rogovskaya, Vice President of the Association of Genital Neoplasia of Russian Federation “Human papilloma virus: modern approach”; Pawel Knapp, Representative of the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology, Head of the Department of Gynaecology and Gynaecologic Oncology of the Medical University of Bialystok of Poland “Standards recommended by the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology for the diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer”; Melahat Atasever, Associate Professor of the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department of Giresun University of Turkey “Approach to cervical cancer during pregnancy”; Shamistan Aliyev, Head of the Oncogynecology Department of Azerbaijan National Center of Oncology “Experience of treatment of cervical cancer at the National Center of Oncology” and other specialists gave presentations covering gynaecologic oncology diseases.

The event was accredited by the Medical Scientific Council of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan with 10 CME credits. At the end of the event participants received certificates.

In the framework of the International Gynaecologic Oncology Conference, a roundtable on "Modern approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer", different discussions on gynaecologic oncology, with the participation of experts will be held at the National Center of Oncology on November 27, 2019
